"My work consists in turning a laboratory result into a useful decision for the patient in front of me. That's what I do at the hospital, that's what I do here."
Introduction
Born in Liège, son of Dr Martine Rixhon, Dr Pablo Beckers is a specialist physician in clinical biology – microbiology. He is head of the serology laboratory at CHU Liège (microbiology department), where he leads cutting-edge work in infectious serology.
In parallel, at Centre Médical Martine Rixhon — founded by his mother — he provides specialised consultations in clinical biology and in screening for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), in a strictly confidential, respectful and non-judgmental setting.
This dual activity, both academic hospital and local clinical practice, is rare. It brings centre patients an expertise usually reserved for major hospitals.
