How does a blood draw work?
- You arrive during opening hours, no appointment needed.
- You present your medical prescription, your ID and your sickness fund label.
- Our receptionist welcomes you and registers your file.
- Our nurse seats you comfortably and performs the draw (usually a few minutes).
- The tubes are labelled and sent to the analysis laboratory.
- Results are sent according to your prescription instructions.
How to prepare?
Fasting or not? Some tests require fasting (8 to 12 hours). This is generally the case for the lipid panel (cholesterol), glucose, iron panel. Check with your prescribing doctor, or ask at reception — we'll guide you.
Hydration. Drinking a large glass of water before the draw makes it easier. Water is allowed even when fasting.
Medications. Continue your usual treatments unless your doctor says otherwise. For anticoagulants, please mention it.
Anxiety. If you're anxious or prone to fainting, mention it at reception. We'll take the time needed and the draw can be done lying down.
Clothing. Prefer sleeves that are easy to roll up.
Documents. Medical prescription, ID, sickness fund label.
How to receive results?
- By secure email directly to your prescribing doctor (default).
- To you, by post or secure email, if your prescription specifies it.
- Via the eHealth network if your doctor has access.
Usual delay: 1 to 5 days depending on the analyses. Some specialised tests may take longer.
Want to understand your results?
Beyond the "normal values" indicated on the report, understanding the medical meaning of your analyses requires expertise. Dr Pablo Beckers, specialist in clinical biology – microbiology at the CHU de Liège, offers consultations dedicated to the interpretation of biological assessments.

Our nurse is used to difficult situations: thin, deep, fragile veins. If needed, several techniques are available.
My child needs a blood test. Is it possible here?
Yes, we perform blood draws on children. Depending on age and situation, the draw can be performed on the arms or back of the hand. Let us know at reception so we can organise everything as best as possible.
